About Khishango
Khishango is a tutoring marketplace connecting parents, students and qualified teachers in Cameroon. We are in a progressive launch phase — early access in a limited set of cities (Douala, Yaoundé, Bafoussam, Dschang, Garoua), with a staged national expansion based on supply density and local context.
We are not just an app — this product handles payments (Mobile Money, escrow), sensitive data (minors, verified teachers), and geographic expansion that must fit Cameroonian ground realities. Technical rigor matters as much as execution speed.
What you will do
- Build end-to-end features across our monorepo (public landing, web app, admin back-office)
- Design reliable booking and payment flows (price calculation, discounts, refunds) without ever trusting the client for amounts
- Build and maintain admin interfaces so the team can drive city activation, pricing and campaigns without redeploying code for every change
- Work with Supabase (Postgres, RLS, migrations) under a strict discipline: additive migrations only, never retroactively edit an already-applied file
- Integrate Cameroon-specific third-party services: Mobile Money (Orange Money, MTN MoMo), WhatsApp notifications
- Take part in architecture decisions with a constant focus on simplicity — we add complexity only when the pain is real, never by anticipation
Tech stack
- Frontend: Next.js (App Router), TypeScript, Tailwind CSS
- Backend: Supabase (Postgres, Auth, Row Level Security, Edge Functions), Server Actions
- Monorepo: Turborepo, shared packages (Zod schemas, business constants, services)
- Validation: Zod end-to-end (schemas shared between front and back)
- Tooling: Git, unit tests (Vitest/Jest), basic CI
Who we are looking for
- About 3 years of web development experience, with concrete work to show (portfolio, public repos, or deployed projects) — not certifications alone
- Strong TypeScript and React/Next.js skills
- Real experience with PostgreSQL or Supabase, including Row Level Security
- Ability to reason about a data model before writing code (we will ask you to justify choices, not just ship)
- Comfortable working in a monorepo with several apps sharing common packages
- Real autonomy: take a spec, ask the right questions, and deliver without constant supervision
Nice to have (not required)
- Experience integrating Mobile Money (Orange Money, MTN MoMo) or any African payment system
- Application security basics (permissions, audit logs, protecting sensitive/minor data)
- Bilingual French/English — useful for an app serving both linguistic communities
What we offer
- Competitive salary based on experience and demonstrated skills (discussed in interview)
- Real, fast impact: you will not be lost in a large team — what you ship is used by real parents and teachers within weeks
- Workplace flexibility (hybrid Douala/Yaoundé)
- Participation in product and architecture decisions, not just ticket execution
Hiring process
- Application: CV + links to your projects (GitHub, portfolio, or deployed app)
- Technical test (remote, ~3 hours): a mini-feature representative of our real stack (e.g. price calculation with a conditional business rule, implemented with Zod + Postgres)
- Technical interview: review of your test and discussion of your architecture choices
- Final interview: culture, mission, mutual expectations
